Curtain fullness ratio is the multiplier that turns rod width into total flat fabric width. A 60 inch rod at 2x fullness needs about 120 inches of flat curtain fabric before rounding to real panel widths.
The right ratio depends on the fabric, header style, privacy needs, and how much stack-back the curtains need when open. Use these ranges before choosing panel count in the curtain size calculator.
1.5x to 2.0x
Eyelet or grommet
Clean, casual folds. Good for ready-made panels in bedrooms, offices, and simple living spaces.
1.8x to 2.2x
Rod pocket
Soft gathered fabric. Use more fullness if the fabric is thin or the window is very wide.
2.0x to 2.5x
Pinch pleat
Tailored folds with a more formal finish. This is usually the polished living room range.
2.5x to 3.0x
Sheer voile
Sheers need more fabric to look generous and provide a softer filter across the glass.
