What makes the estimate useful

The calculator follows the same practical sequence used in most ready-made curtain planning: choose the coverage width, add stack-back when hardware has not been installed, apply a fullness ratio, round up to real panel widths, then check the finished drop. This makes the result helpful before shopping because it converts a window measurement into package decisions.

The result panel also shows the formula behind each number. If the panel count looks surprising, check the fabric-width line first. If the rod length looks too wide, check whether the calculator is in window mode or installed-rod mode. If the finished length looks wrong, check the hanging point rather than only the window height.

Where human judgment still matters

Curtains are not a single universal standard. Fabric weight, lining, grommets, pleats, tracks, brackets, floor level, product packaging, and installer instructions can change the final choice. Use the calculator as a planning estimate, then confirm the retailer's panel width, whether the package includes one panel or a pair, and the rod manufacturer's weight and support guidance.
